- HydroCulv v1.0
-
- WHAT IS HYDROCULV ?
-
- HydroCulv is a program that computes water surface profiles through culverts. Features of
- the program include :
-
- - Combinations of flow profiles including GVF, supercritical flow, hydraulic jumps
- - Predefined culvert shapes (round, ellipse, arch, and box) and user defined shapes
- - Multiple profiles (up to 5 sets of boundary conditions per run)
- - Open channel flow calculations or specified tailwater options
- - Error checking of user input prior to execution
- - Saving and opening of input in files, including last files selection
- - GUI input of culvert and flow data including tool bar
- - Tabular output of results to screen
- - Graphical presentation of profiles and plots of key results vs. discharge
- - Printing of output including input and plots
- - Copying of data and plots to the clipboard
- - On-line help including clickable images and flowcharts explaining calculation procedures
-
- INSTALLATION
-
- The zip file includes the following files :
-
- Hydroclv.exe Executable file for running HydroCulv
- Hydroclv.hlp The associated help file
- Grid.vbx Visual Basic files required for program execution
- Threed.vbx " "
- cmdialog.vbx " "
- Readme.txt This file
-
- The Hydroclv.* files and the readme.txt file should be copied to any directory of your
- choosing e.g. C:\HYDROCLV. The *.VBX files should be copied to the Windows system
- directory (commonly C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM), if they are not currently there or if the existing
- files have an older date.
-
- In addition to these files, the file VBRUN300.DLL should be also be installed in the
- Windows system directory. This file has not been included in the zip file due to space
- limitations and the availability of this file from many sources. If this file is not in
- your Windows system directory, you can download it from the same ftp site as the zip file
- (SimTel collection).
-
- At this point, HydroCulv should be ready to run. If you choose to assign an icon to the
- program, an icon attached to the program will appear.
-
- RUNNING HYDROCULV
-
- When HydroCulv is started, the main screen with the tool bar and menu appears along with a
- blank culvert geometry form. In order to run the program, the culvert geometry screen
- must be completed along with the boundary condition screen. The boundary condition screen
- appears when the "Boundary Conditions" button on the Culvert Geometry screen is pressed.
- Once the data has been entered, calculations are performed and output displayed by
- pressing the "Run" button on the button bar. The results table appears, showing key
- results and profile data for each set of boundary conditions entered. Profile plots and
- plots of key results vs. discharge can be viewed by selecting buttons on the button bar.
- To edit the input data, press the "Back" button on the button bar. Printing, copying, and
- file manipulation functions can also be accessed from the button bar. For additional help
- on running HydroCulv, see the Help file included with HydroCulv.
-
